Gorman, MBA, QAFP™, CLU®, CHS®, CEA®, has been admitted to the part-time Master of Laws (LLM) degree program in Tax Law at Osgoode Hall Law School beginning in September 2020.

Chris’ experience in federal politics, where he served as Executive Assistant to a senior Cabinet minister, informs his appreciation for understanding the dynamics that influence taxation and finances, along with the legal system that supports them.

Osgoode Hall’s graduate tax law program teaches students advanced legal and tax knowledge that can be applied to address complex tax and estate planning issues for our clients.  This unique integration of financial, legal and tax knowledge contributes to truly holistic financial strategies and facilitates meaningful engagement with clients and their other professional advisors, such as their lawyer and accountant.

Education forms a powerful characteristic of FocalPoint’s advising philosophy and our work with clients.

“I am proud to be admitted to Canada’s leading law school to pursue a master’s degree in tax law.  Our clients have been my inspiration to pursue this unique educational opportunity.  This will elevate our definition of holistic advice and our capacity to support clients as they navigate complex financial issues.  We aspire to be a leading independent financial advisory firm in the Okanagan and British Columbia and pursuing this LLM degree is one dimension of our plan to get there,” said Gorman.

Prior to joining FocalPoint, Chris served as a leader in the post-secondary sector taking on executive roles that supported the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses of The University of British Columbia.  A true believer in the value of education, Chris also served as an elected Trustee on the Central Okanagan Board of Education from 2011 to 2018.
